Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She served on an audience for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news stories such as arms control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to various summits while in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
